Our trip to Erbil Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) August 3 - 11th 2018 was a life changing experience, I will not look at Erbil Kurdistan the same way. I always use to think that these people are a warring people, a people that were really hard and not caring...or when you think of Iraq, you think of war, devastations, ruins, burka, Islamic...and things like that....it was kind of worrisome about the whole idea of going to Erbil Iraq.
We have never been outside the United States of American other then Canada, but this was our first time going out of the country, we were worried and excited at the same time.
We step foot on the Sunport international airport in Albuquerque, New Mexico and getting our tickets, we travel a lot getting on planes, but this time around, the clerk said wait for about 10 mins. but we soon realized that the clerk called security and they brought the dogs around us, the dogs sniffed and went on...I guess we were ok ...hahaha that was weird. from the very start of our trip from Albuquerque we were delayed our plane to Chicago was delayed, by one hour, so when we landed in Chicago we were one hour behind schedule we landed in terminal 3 and we were suppose to leave from Terminal 5 which was about 2 miles from where we were...We hurried and got to that terminal with help of the electric cart. but by the time that we got to terminal 5 it was too late, Our plane was leaving in 15 mins. so the Airline told us the next plane out was the next day same time....so they got us a motel room and they paid for dinner which was cool in a way. The next day we took off in the big plane a 777 Qatar plane and we flew for 14 hours over to Doha, Qatar, a total different world as soon, as we touched down we could see the richness of this country, we could see in the distance the city of Doha by the Persian Gulf it was in the evening when we landed and the sun was setting as we took off again for Ebril, Iraq. How exciting it was, We hear about it and we read about it. but now we are walking in it, as we flew over Iraq we saw from the air all the oil wells and they were burning off the excess oil hundreds of them (Lots of Oil)..Wow...We landed in Erbil went through security checks (and they checked everything). totally different, 1st thing you see is Guns...kinda strange to see....but now I know it was good felt safe...Went to our Motel...it was very very nice, I thought wow...there are nice places here, very comfortable looked like a 4 star motel, our team were already there because we were a day late, but immediately our team greeted us and we were already set to pray over the area and what we were going to do there in the middle of Iraq the middle east in a place call Erbil where the Kurdistan lived, We got there in the evening time and the sounds around the city was like you would hear in the movies with the sound of their own prayers going blasting in the streets and city, it was prayer hour for them everyone no matter where they were went to their knees and pray it was powerful feeling that they would do that, No matter where they were if they were driving they got out of their cars and went to kneel and pray it was something else to see that and experience that, So we prayed in the dinning area which was on the 2nd floor of our Motel...big fancy place with mahogany wood place, with all the glass wears, beautiful place, after our prayer they served us dinner which was so good, the servants came out and served us they really knew how to serve I was impressed to see that. The next day we went to visit a Pastor from there, he took us to his church, the church was kinda like outside the city, in a neighborhood area, It was very Hot about 115 to 120* the heat was kinda scary the Air conditioner in the van to cool but not real cold at least we had that to fight against the heat. that van was our refuge.
OK to be continued ....come back for the finishing story.
